Community: Seymour

With a population of just under 2,000 residents, Seymour is a quaint community located 30 miles east of Springfield sitting at the edge of the Springfield Plateau of the Ozarks. In the early 1900’s Seymour was the leading apple producer in Missouri, which earned it the nickname “Land of the Big Red Apple”. They have continued to honor this distinction with their annual Apple Festival, a fall event that draws over 15,000 people each year, and includes a variety of foods, crafts, live entertainment, games, and of course, apples! Besides having a town history dating to the mid 1800’s, Seymour holds a special place in the Ozarks as a local Old Order Amish Community. Seymour Public Schools have the Distinction in Performance based on state performance standards as well as being a member of the state A+ High School program.
